What to Do Instead of Panicking In A Survival Situation Or Disaster

When disaster strikes, will you know what to go? What you need to do is take a few moments to consider how you are going to avoid the nightmares that can occur, while keeping you and your family safe.

Financial Preparation

Stock markets are likely going to crash when this happens and ATMs are going to quickly run out of money. What you want to do is have some financial items in place that will help you to remain safe. Since your money might not be worth anything, you will want to have gold and other precious metals on hand that will help you and your family at this time.

Avoid Major Roadways

While they might be the easiest way for you to escape an area, they are going to be clogged full of people that are also looking to escape. You will want to be certain that you avoid these suggested paths. Instead, have some alternatives in mind that will get you to safer place without the bulk of traffic. Keep in mind that bridges and tunnels are the worst areas that you can travel through. With this in mind, you should also have some gas that has been stored up. A good idea will be to have a tanks worth of backup gas in place to help avoid problems.

Communication Will Be Minimal

You must understand that during the first week, you are not going to be able to communicate easily. Telephone lines are going to be bogged down with numerous phone calls and the internet will be overburdened. Instead, have a safe meeting place for your family and then prepare to leave together without having to rely on standard forms of communication.

Plan Ahead for Disaster

When a disaster or teotwawki occurs, you are going to need to be able to make some snap decisions to keep your family safe. Along with this, you are going to want to ensure that you have a stock of items that can help to keep your family safe.

Have Food and Water on Hand

Grocery stores rotate their stock in just a matter of days. This means when disaster strikes, the food that stocks their shelves that will work great for 2 days before they get their next delivery will no longer be enough. This is especially the case as people panic. To help avoid this problem, you are going to want to have a month's worth of water and dry food on hand. This will give you enough time to clear your mind and to ensure that your family has the basic items needed to survive.

Ensure Your Home is Secure

There is a good chance that robberies and violence will increase in a state of emergency. Since the police will be dealing with a widespread set of issues, you will need to be able to care for your family. This means you need to upgrade the doors and locks on your home and be prepared to keep your family safe from anything that might come up.

Know When to Leave

As you begin to see an increase in violence, you should be prepared to watch and determine the best time for you to leave. What you are going to need to pay attention to is arson and other concerns in your area that could push you out of your home. Decide the limits for you family before you are willing to leave and stick to them.

By being prepared, you are going to increase the chances of your family's survival in the trying times.
